Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
On behalf of our Parish Council, its President, our Ladies Philoptochos Society and all the organizations of the Annunciation
Greek Orthodox Church, I welcome you to our church’s web site!
At the most fundamental level, to be a Christian means to be part of the Church, which allows us to practice our active
commitment to God and to acknowledge His Son and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as our way of life.
The Church is the Body of Christ on Earth. Her foundations lay in the very words of our Lord Himself when He said to His
disciples, “Upon this rock I will build My Church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys to
the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in
heaven.” (Matt. 16:18-19) As the fellowship of the faithful, the members of the church worship together and help one another to learn,
practice and grow in their Christian faith. With God’s help and through the grace of the Holy Spirit, we seek to become better
Orthodox Christians, as well as better human beings, so that we may more fully and positively contribute to the rich thread that
makes up the diverse tapestry of our American Republic.
Since our community was founded over 108 years ago, and as the oldest Greek Orthodox parish in Connecticut, the
Annunciation Church has worked diligently to lead by example in becoming the “ecclesia”, an extended family of faith that receives its
blessings from Almighty God and in fellowship with one another.
In striving towards this goal, our church offers a full program of religious services, religious instruction and activities for the
faithful of our community and our children to grow in their Orthodox Christian faith and Hellenic Heritage. We encourage our
parishioners and all who walk through our doors to participate in the life of the church as actively and authentically as they can. In
doing so, we hope and pray to more fully receive and grow in, “the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father and
the communion of the Holy Spirit” each and every day of our lives. (2 Cor 13:14). We invite you to join us in this sacred mission.
Thank you for visiting our church’s website and should you require further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to
ask. God bless you!
In Christ’s love,
Fr. Evan Evangelidis
Presbyter
